Delicious vegan pate that can be used as a sandwich spread or on toast, partner with avocado for something extra special.

  • 15 ml olive oil
  • 1 brown onion coarsely chopped
  • 230 g mushrooms coarsely chopped
  • 60 ml water
  • 230 g walnuts
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper


  • Heat oil over medium heat and saute onions and mushrooms for 2 minutes.
  • Add water, cover pan, and cook for 8 minutes over medium heat.  There should be a small amount of water left in the pan at this time.
  • Meanwhile, chop walnuts in food processor.
  • Add the mushroom mixture to the walnuts in the food processor and process until smooth.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Serve cold.


Storage: can be stored in the fridge for 2 - 3 days.
